Update: Patent Suit Against eBay Rejected

On March 13, we referred to a Washington Post article about MercExchange's patent suit against eBay over the "Buy It Now" feature.
According to today's Washington Post, in a win for eBay, the Supreme Court rejected an appeals court ruling that would have forced eBay to stop using "Buy It Now" on its auction site. In fact, the Justices ordered the federal district court to start the case over.
It remains to be seen whether or not the decision will help other firms facing injunctions -- the latest tech company facing a patent suit is Apple, with claims by a Singapore-based company named Creative Technology Ltd. that Apple's iPod infringes on its intellectual property.
