CRA Blog's Take on Competitiveness Legislation
Sep 29, 2006
Earlier this week, the Computing Research Association's blog featured a post called "Innovation and Competitiveness: How'd We Do?" by CRA's Govt. Affairs Director, Peter Harsha. The CRA is a nonprofit group of 200+ academic computer science departments and labs in North America, so it's particulary interested in funding for scientific research at universities.
Whether or not you personally agree with Mr. Harsha's assessment, the post helps summarize recent competitiveness legislation -- a table at the end of the post outlines key revisions of several bills. There's also a mention of the National Competitiveness Investment Act, new legislation introduced by Senators Bill Frist (R-TN) and Harry Reid (D-NV) and a bipartisan coaltion of Senators this week.
