News.com Interview with MPAA Exec
Aug 28, 2007
News.com interviewed Dean Garfield, evp and chief strategy officer for the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) about his organization's efforts to fight digital piracy and its use of technology. Garfield, who spoke at Tech Policy Summit earlier this year, wouldn't comment on the details of MPAA's copyright suit against TorrentSpy (which recently announced it was shutting down its service to U.S. users), but Garfield did tell News.com that MPAA would continue to go after such services. At the same time, he acknowledged the potential of BitTorrent and other file sharing technologies to distribute large files like digital movies. To read the entire Q&A, visit News.com here.
