Barack Obama Gets LinkedIn

Sep 12, 2007

It's no secret that the Presidential candidates vying for the top spot in the 2008 election have been using social media to try and connect with potential voters. There have been YouTube videos, MySpace profiles and Facebook pages aplenty. And today Democratic hopeful Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois is flexing his Web 2.0 muscles at business-oriented social networking site LinkedIn.

Sen. Obama is attracting (even more) attention by using LinkedIn's Answers service where any community member can post a question for others to answer. This morning he asked, "How can the next president better help small business and entrepreneurs thrive?" A quick look at the 500+ responses that had been logged so far reveals a variety of responses that should keep his campaign staff busy. Check out this article in Computerworld for more, or visit www.linkedin.com.

As an aside, LinkedIn's co-founder and chairman Reid Hoffman spoke at Tech Policy Summit in February.
