Bamboo Laptops?
Apr 22, 2008
Dell chairman and CEO Michael Dell was among the speakers at Fortune's new Brainstorm: Green conference, which was held this week to coincide with today's Earth Day commemoration.
While we didn't make the trip to Pasadena for the event, we saw Mr. Dell on CNBC this afternoon discussing a new bamboo-encased laptop that is expected to ship later this year -- and we thought it was novel enough to warrant a mention here.
Thanks to the team at Earth2Tech, here is a photo of the new 'fig newton'-like design:
It's billed as a more eco-friendly machine that is smaller, uses less power and "is filled with recycled materials like old bottles, milk jugs and detergent cases." It is not, however, the only 'bamboo laptop' in development. Taiwanese manufacturer Asus has also announced plans for a series of computers with bamboo cases.
