Google Gets Green Light for U.K. Street View
Jul 31, 2008
Google's Street View mapping tool, which has been in use in the U.S. for over a year, may soon make its debut in the United Kingdom. Despite opposition by privacy advocates, the BBC and News.com are reporting that Britain's Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) has given its approval for the company to introduce the service.
Google, which hasn't yet announced a formal launch date in the U.K., has agreed to blur faces and license plates in order to satisfy concerns about consumer privacy.
