At Tech Policy Summit '09
May 12, 2009
The 3rd annual Tech Policy Summit is underway at the San Mateo Marriott and, while registration is closed, there are a number of participants here who are using Twitter to share real-time updates. The tag for conference content is #tps09, and you can follow us at TechPolicy.
Right now, our second roundtable of the day is underway, an important discussion about "Elevating the Role of Science in Policy" that is being hosted by writer/author Richard Brandt. The speakers are Marc Stanley from NIST, Science Debate co-founder Shawn Otto, Dan Byers of the U.S. House of Representatives' Science and Technology committee and venture capitalist Raman Khanna of ONSET Ventures.
We will be posting podcasts of the general sessions from both of those conferences following the event. Until then, if you're here at the Summit, I hope you'll get engaged by asking questions and offering your perspectives. There is a microphone near the front of the stage for you to use and we've asked every session host to encourage Q&A.
I've seen interesting commentary on Twitter, and encourage you to step up to the microphone and share your thoughts directly with the speakers. Along the same lines, if you have comments or questions about the Summit, feel free to talk with me (Natalie Fonseca) in person, as well as on Twitter. I'm doing my best to stay in the ballroom for every session today; I'm near the front of the room near the doors. It would be nice to meet you in person.
